Side-Quest Cards

A deck of 36 cards meant for RPG Narrators and Game Masters to quickly come up with randomly generated setting/system agnostic side-quests.

The deck is divided by 6 types of cards x 6 variants for each type:

- 🃏 6 x Quest Type cards
- 🃏 6 x Quest Giver cards
- 🃏 6 x Quest Location cards
- 🃏 6 x Quest Reward cards
- 🃏 6 x Deus Ex Machina cards
- 🃏 6 x Plot Twist cards

Draw 1 card of each type, and here goes your side-quest!

How to:

1) Divide the deck into these 6 x 6 smaller decks grouping the cards by type.
2) Shuffle each mini-deck.
3) Draw one card for each type.
4) Assemble and interpret the side-quest based on your RPG setting!

Example:

- Quest Type Card: Kill
- Quest Giver: Guard
- Quest Location: in the Underground
- Quest Reward: A fair exchange
- Deus Ex Machina Card: Transportation
- Plot Twist Card: Countdown

If we had to translate this into a Western RPG setting, it could be read as:

- Quest Type Card: Kill = Take out the head of the bandit gang
- Quest Giver: Guard = Sheriff
- Quest Location: in the Underground = Estinguished Silver Mines
- Quest Reward: A fair exchange = The Sheriff will owe the party a favor
- Deus Ex Machina Card: Transportation = Horses
- Plot Twist Card: Countdown = The mines are rigged with explosives

Possible Side-Quest interpretation:

"When you ask the sheriff if he could share with you the last time he saw the bounty you are hunting, he says he would be more comfortable sharing this information with you if you could do something to prove yourself useful. A hand washes the other type of thing, you know? He'd be even willing to give you the fastest horses at his disposal if you could go up north to the estinguished silver mines and take out a certain Harrison Crazy Eyes, the head of a bandit gang that's being raiding caravans in the area. He would for sure owe you a favor for that."

See? Super easy.
